How Do You Make a Creative Shift?

My Story

Hello There Creative Peep,

When do you know that it's time to make a creative shift?

When you have exhausted everything that there is to say about something. This might show up through a feeling of not being satisfied with your work or just pure boredom. You lose the joy for the process of painting.

You should be on fire to jump out of bed in the mornings to get back into your studio in order to paint!

So what would make you excited to paint again?

Maybe you need a change of scenery? Or a change of mediums? Or subject matter?

It's important to recognize any time that you are making art and your heart just isn't in it anymore. This happened to me when I realized that I had gotten so far out of balance by making art that I thought other people wanted to see from me, that I had lost perspective on what I REALLY wanted to be painting.

And when this happens, it can be so frustrating and difficult to come to terms with because you don't really love the art that you are making.

In this moment, it feels impossible to shift your creative style mid stream, doesn't it?

If you can relate to any of this, it might be time to make a creative shift.

It's important to take time to get quiet and ask yourself what is it that I really want to say through the process of making art?
